记住：“小雨”不是small rain, “大雨”也不是big rain

说到“大小”，很多人都会立马想到small和big然而在形容“雨”的大小方面可不是这样哒~除了“雨”之外，“大风”“小风”“大雪”“小雪”又应该如何表达呢？small rain≠小雨看到“小雨”，你是不是脱口而出“small rain”，这么表达可不正确哦！形容雨下得小应该是 light rain 因为雨量是多少轻重之分，small是面积大小之分。We also call light rain drizzle /'drɪz(ə)l/ or sprinkles /'sprɪŋk(ə)l/.我们也把小雨叫作drizzle（毛毛雨）或是sprinkles（稀疏小雨）例：It's drizzling outside.外面下毛毛雨呢。You don't need an umbrella, it's just sprinkling.你不需要伞，只是很小的雨。It's a warm day with light rain and winds.今天是带有轻微雨和风的温暖的天。big rain≠大雨正如上述提到的“小雨”不是“small rain”一样的道理，“大雨”也不是“big rain”。而是“light”的反义词“heavy”，“大雨”是 heavy rain 还有一些很常见的说大雨的方式：There is a downpour. (A sudden heavy rain)倾盆大雨（突然的大雨）It's pouring down rain.下着倾盆大雨It's raining cats and dogs.瓢泼大雨Landslides caused by heavy rain in Guatemala killed at least 45 people.因暴雨导致的滑坡造成危地马拉至少45人死亡。这里再补充一个词汇sleet /sliːt/ 雨夹雪它的解释是 when part of the rain is water and part of the rain is frozen (snow).当一部分的雨是水，一部分的雨是冻结的(雪)Some wet weather It’s very wet here.It’s wet out there.描述下雨时，我们还会经常用到一个词wet不管是下大雨还是下雨，wet这个词都可以灵活的表达一般与weather搭配使用比如说，“We had some seriously wet weather over the weekend.”周末我们遇到了严重的阴雨天气。“This was the wettest year on record.”这是有记录以来雨最多的一年。“What a wet weekend. We couldn’t do anything fun!”这个周末雨太多了。我们没办法出去玩！描述“风”时，我们会用到strong / lightstrong windswhen the wind is blowing with a lot of force.风很大时用strong来形容light winds (breezy) when there is a light breeze. 风很小时用light形容或者直接说breezy（有微风的）描述雪也有很多不同的表达当雪下得小时我们用“light snow” 或“light snowfall.”当雪下得大时，我们说“heavy snow”或“heavy snowfall.”如果雪落到地上形成了厚厚的一层，会用到thick这个词Thick snow那如果是薄薄的一层呢？英语就是thin layer of snow例：There was some light snowfall overnight leaving a thin layer of snow on the ground.昨晚下了一场小雪，地上只留下一层薄薄的雪。
