15: How Sonya Ottaway's career as an accountant and sports ambassador has led her to a lifetime of adventures all over the world

My guest today is Sonya Ottaway, a Chartered Accountant and Director at one of the world's big 4 accounting firms. She is also the Founder of Netball America and its unique Be An Inspiration® program which provides opportunities to children for leadership, teamwork and physical fitness -all while helping improve self-esteem with a focus on anti-bullying & cultural understanding. Sonya’s  career has led her to speak all over the world: at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in Sth Africa, alongside the US Ambassador in Uganda, and in Europe, Japan,  & Australia.  She has competed in Sth Korea's World Hapkido  Self Defence Championships, trained with monks in the Sth Korean mountains, swum with Great White Sharks, ridden Arabian horses in Egypt, Driven Formula 1 cars in Las Vegas and even cascaded down 300 foot waterfalls in the Mexican Sierras. Sonya graduated with a Bachelor of Business with Honors from Central Qld University in Australia, and has spent over 25 years in the field of Audit and Risk.  In this episode Sonya tells us how lessons in sport translate to lessons in life and how failing math never deterred her from becoming a chartered accountant!
