Authors' Alcove: The Writing Corner
Writing Historical Fiction with Sammy Beuker: The Unfortunate Life of Genevieve Ryder
05 Jan 2024
Sammy Beuker is a special guest for me, due to being a longtime friend. She is also a mother, wife, and author. Her debut novel The Unfortunate Life of Genevieve Ryder follows a woman in the aftermath of World War II, as she is 22 years old in a situation that most don’t look fondly at. It follows her throughout her life and the decisions she makes. Sammy and I discuss why this book was very special to her, the significance of the setting, and how sometimes the protagonist is the antagonist.
